Can't Sleep, Clowns Will Eat Me

From time to time, I go through periods where I just can't fall asleep at night. They come and go, and I've never yet found a pattern on why and how it happens.

Last night, I hit one of my worst points so far; not tired enough to bother until past midnight; still entirely awake at 1:15 when Sasha wandered in to snuggle; and still at 1:45 when I put her back in her bed; and finally fell asleep sometime well past 2am.

This is OK when you have the opportunity to make up for it by sleeping in on weekends, but when you have a child who wakes up hungry by 7:30am every day, it's not to much an option.

So: advice, anyone? How can I fall asleep more quickly? I'm mostly off the caffeine, I certainly don't go jogging right before bedtime, blah blah. This just can't go on.

Have you tried a cool glass of milk shortly before bedtime? I've heard that helps...

Are you having visions of Sideshow Bob too? Because I heard that was a common reason for not being able to fall asleep

1. Get up and read a book.
2. A warm glass of milk
3. Turkey
4. Record your thoughts just as you go to bed to see if there is something troubling.
5. A nice shower
6. Works for men -sex

Parents should NEVER talk about sex to their kids, it's creepy.

I suggest meditation. It's propbably your mind not in the right mode. It is also said by "experts" that TV before bed is a bad thing. And that you are most able to sleep when your body temperature is at its highest (unusally at night) and at its lowest (usually around noon).
