So Much to Tell

There's just an incredible amount going on, and I keep feeling like I need to write some of it down because it's gone in the blink of an eye and I know I'll forget. But life has this funny way of marching on no matter what you'd planned on doing, and so these million tiny, precious things stay locked in my head, imperfectly preserved. Things like...

  • How Sasha very logically assumed that should her teachers get sick, the kids in pre-K get the day off
  • The way Maya gets to smelling like yogurt when I don't bathe her well enough or often enough
  • How adorable it is to see a grown man engaging in babytalk
  • The relief I feel that yes, I can in fact get along with the other moms in school, and kind of wish we could maybe hang out sometime
  • The giddy but delicious surprise of feeling body-confident and even pretty hot at two sizes out of your pre-baby clothes
  • The extreme care and affection Sasha has for her baby sister
  • The amazement at observing how different two children can be in personality and temperament, even from a day old
  • The way Sasha gets ridiculously smarter every day (SUPAH-GENIUS BABY!)
  • Poor Maya and her tragic but inspiring struggle against my oversupply of milk

So much to remember, so much to forget, and I know some things are gone already. But that's how these things go, isn't it?

My kitchen is: Invaded by ants. Isn't it too cold for this? Shouldn't they all be dead? I tried to take the fight to them and pour boiling water into their nest, except the burner blew out and they tried to take me out with gas vapors instead. We noticed and ventilated the house before exploding or asphyxiating, but the score still stands at Ants: 1, Andrea: 0.

I love your list, and am glad that the postpartum period is going well for all. It's amazing seeing the siblings interact.

On another note, I, too, had a horrible time with oversupply. My letdowns were so strong that I think I could have powerwashed the aluminum siding! Poor babe would choke and sputter and get all kinds of mad. Luckily a little 'block nursing' got things on the straightaway.
