Survivor may just be a TV show where contestants get voted off but if they had a show where an entire country could get voted off, us citizens of the USA would have cause for concern. Good thing they don't, right? Well... let's wipe that smug look off our faces. It used to be that we as a country elicited hatred from parts of the world and laughter from the other parts. Thanks to our current administration combined with our history of doing "really dumb things", we've just about managed to get 100% of those parts of the world to both laugh at us and hate us at the same time. Earlier this month an interesting report was released by the The Pew Research Center for the People and the Press which describes What the World Thinks in 2002. While the report isn't just about the United States of America, it certainly focuses heavily on world opinion of this country and certainly does not paint a pretty picture. It is interesting to note the paradoxical and concurrent mixed emotions towards us from the rest of the world. My gut inkling is that they themselves are confused about how to feel about us because they see us as very confused as a nation. We really do need to wake up and get a grip before it's too late.
