Krispy Kreme Desperation

Issaquah, WA - The waiting area for the drive-thru of the Krispy Kreme consisted of 5 lanes with a queue depth of 10 cars. The police were dismissing lanes individually to fill the drive-thru lane which itself held about 20 cars. I was told at the beginning of the waiting area that it was
an hour and a half wait.

The police officer there said the waits have been getting shorter. It was much more crowded the previous night despite the rain and cold. He said he was pulling his second consecutive night shift which he suspects will last 12 hours. He said he put in 8 hours the previous night. All of this is on top of his normal day shift. I hope they're getting really good overtime
pay.

So I waited an hour and a half, finally ordered the donuts and am sitting in line with three cars in front of me in the drive-thru lane of the Krispy Kreme... It's dark and raining... A blue Chevy Blazer pulls up on the street adjacent to the drive-thru line. A girl gets out and looks all confused.

She gestures wildly to the Blazer and then proceeds to walk up to my passenger side window and tap on the glass. I roll down the window.

And she begins to blurt some story about how her grandmother just died and they have to go to the funeral tommorrow and they need donuts. She wanted to know if I would order donuts for her.

So... I let her go through her story and politely tell her that I've already passed the order box. She mutters, "oh shit" and yells something incomprehensable to the Blazer. Then she scampers off down the line around the back...
